AmeriCorps*VISTA Opportunities for 2010-2011

 

Yakima Valley Habitat Store is looking for a Donations Manager Store Development:

Required Meetings/Trainings for both VISTA positions:
     - Pre-Service Orientation (Summer/Fall 5 days out of town)
     - National Service Leadership Conference (Fall 5 days out of town)
     - Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Project (Winter local)
     - Build-a-Thon (Spring/Summer 7 days out of town)
     - Affiliate Orientation (in town)
     - Service Week (days/hours): 5 days/40 hours per week

As an AmeriCorps*VISTA Member who serves full-time with no outside commitments, you are eligible to receive the following benefits:
     - Approximately between $10,296 for the year over 26 pay periods
     - A $5,350 Education award or $1,500 cash stipend 
     - Student loan forbearance 
     - 10 Personal days, 10 Sick days and 10 Emergency days

Position Objective:

-        Maintain/establish connections with local businesses and community partners.

-        Create and implement a marketing plan to increase overall community awareness of the Store.

-        Develop, maintain and schedule Store volunteers.

 

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:

Willing and a desire to work with low income communities.  Ability to work with minimal supervision, excellent verbal and writing skills, Interpersonal skills, detail oriented, self-starter, competent in Microsoft Office.  Able to plan, organize and implement multiple tasks simultaneously, experience in public speaking.  Prior retail and/or fundraising experience preferred but not required. Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred.
